Marlena Sakowska-Baryla

Doctor of Legal Sciences, legal counsel.

She is a partner at Sakowska-Baryła, Czaplińska Kancelaria Radców Prawnych Sp. p., vice-president of SBC Inspektor Sp. z o.o. and editor-in-chief of the quarterly “ABI Expert”, member of the scientific staff of the Institute of New Technologies and Personal Data Protection Law at Lazarski University, vice-president and founding member of the Association of Data Protection Practitioners (SPOD).  

She specializes in data protection, access to public information, reuse of public sector information, constitutional law and local government law.   

Under her editorship, a commentary to RODO – “General Data Protection Regulation”, C.H. Beck 2018.  

She is the author of more than 150 publications in the field of personal data protection and information law, including the most comprehensive monograph on information law – “Personal data protection and access to public information and reuse of public sector information”, Wolters Kluwer 2022, and the first book on the market on the subject of data protection in remote work – “Personal data protection in remote work conditions”, Wolters Kluwer, 2020.  

She actively participates in scientific conferences and industry seminars on the above issues. She is the author of substantive concepts of cyclical industry forums. She lectures at the University of Lodz, University of Wroclaw, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University, Lazarski University, Kozminski University, Leon Kozminski Academy, Poznan School of Banking, Warsaw School of Banking and Upper Silesian School of Commerce.  

More than 20,000 participants have taken part in the training courses she has conducted.   

She runs a YouTube channel popularizing personal data protection, information law and new technologies.
